Learning to Trot

Painted Pony

Campers participate in daily riding lessons, learning the basic principles of riding or advancing their present skills. Incorporated in the learning is fun time with trail rides and games on horse back.

The students not only ride horses but learn how to care for them as well including learning how to catch and lead their horse or pony and becoming responsible for the care and grooming of their horse. Students learn the different tack used to saddle up and ride, study the anatomy of the horse, and identify different breeds and colors of horses. They enjoy the outdoors and experience nature as they ride through the forest on our 106 acres of beautiful wooded trails.

During the heat of the afternoon campers enjoy art lessons from a certified art instructor. Each year the projects are done with a theme such as print making and clay. This year we will be making clay horses with real manes and tails! Campers can also spend the afternoon bareback riding and cooling off in our pool.

Class size is kept small with a maximum limit of 10 students each week. All levels are welcome from first time beginners through advanced. Beginners receive 1 on 1 instruction and intermediate and advanced students receive instruction on a 1 to 3 ratio as well as individual instruction. The student to adult instructor ratio is 3:1

Simon Says on Horseback

Tiny Rider week for 4 & 5 yr olds

We offer a week to introduce the younger kids to all the fun these furry friends have to offer. The days are shortened to 9:00 - 12:00 but are full of the same hands-on activities conducted in the older kids camp. Young riders will learn care of their  pony and receive riding instruction during mounted activities while  exploring the wonderful world of horses!
